$3.2 Million Dollar Investment to Rutgers—Camden

Assemblywoman Carol Murphy has invested $3.2 million into Rutgers University-Camden. According to Chancellor Antonio D Tillis, “This million dollar investment will strengthen our student success programs and initiatives.” Along with helping students with their academic goals, renovation of the campus center will begin. 

The handing of the check ceremony was held in the Campus Center on the morning of Monday, September 16. Student organizations, student leaders, and many staff members all gathered around to not only welcome Murphy to Rutgers, but also to view Murphy hand the investment check to Rutgers University’s Chancellor, Antonio D Tillis. Carol Murphy is the Assemblywoman of District 7, New Jersey. Murphy has been in Public Service since the early 2000s, working in Health, Judiciary, and Budget committees. 

According to many students in the audience, the event was an honor to attend. Danielle Allen, a Rutgers Camden student spoke out and said, “I believe Murphy is exceptionally generous and truly believes in us, and wants to see a positive impact in our education.” 

In addition, Jenrry Amaya Portillo, another Rutgers Camden student shared, “I think Assemblywoman Carolyn Murphy is someone who is dedicated to help better education by helping secure the investment. Her investment will allow us students to create and have more opportunities.”
