Rutgers University – Camden Honors College 25th Anniversary
The Honors College at Rutgers University – Camden has recently celebrated its 25th anniversary on our campus. The Honors College recognizes academically exceptional students and provides an outlet for success. The Honors College mostly accepts students right out of high school, however, with determination and hard work a student could accept an invitation not as an incoming freshman. The Honors College does have requirements for its members as Honors Engagement. This includes volunteer service, honors events, and campus activities. The requirements are not intense and can be completed by even the busiest students. These requirements allow the students of this organization to make friends and connect within the campus community through fun and civic experiences.
The Honors College is staffed by the Director, Dr. Lee Ann Westman, and Assistant Deans, Brian Everett and Krista Wehlen. All three work very hard to plan events, provide volunteer service hours, and promote success for the students in this organization. Some events planned by the Honors College include Days for Girls, park clean ups, and conversations about financial literacy, internships, and even the Holocaust. The Honors College had invited a survivor of the Holocaust to come and speak about her and her family’s experience while living during the genocide. This organization provides education and stepping stones for success in the future. The Honors College at Rutgers University – Camden is a great outlet for students to connect within each other and their community to better themselves as well as the world we live in.
