Dear Scarlet,

There is this guy who keeps referring to me as his girlfriend. I don’t even like him but I don’t want to hurt his feelings. What do I do?
Sincerely,
Heartbreaking is Hard

Dear Heartbreaking is Hard,
Honesty is always the best policy. If you want to keep your friendship with this boy you need to be honest with him and let him know that you want to don’t see him as more than a friend and you wouldn’t want to do anything to jeopardize your friendship. Also as a woman you want to be more aware of the signals you are sending out to guys. Subtle things we think as being friendly maybe taken as flirting and you don’t want to send out the wrong message. In the grand scheme of things you don’t have to be mean and hurt his feelings to let him know that you aren’t into him like that, but leading him on and letting him believe that there is something between the two of you will eventually lead to his feelings being hurt.
XOXO

Dear Scarlet,

I’m nervous about this upcoming Snowball. Is it ok to go stag or do I need a date?
Sincerely,
Help My Love Life

Dear Help My Love Life,
It is 2013 the way I see it you have two options, ask the person you have your eye on to go with you to the Snowball or get a group of your friends together and go. You don’t need a date to have a good time. Going solo will allow you to be able to socialize, meet new people and dance the night away with any and everyone. You have to be content being alone before you can be happy with someone else or make someone else happy. Take this time to have fun and enjoy a night out with your friends where you can get dressed up and party hard!

XOXO

Dear Scarlet,

This time of year is depressing with the cold, cloudy weather. What are some activities one can do when one is depressed?
Sincerely,
Anonymous

Dear Anonymous,
Wintertime can make anyone feel depressed. The cold weather sucks. But there are still fun activities that you can do in cold weather. When the weather starts to get colder, it’s officially cuffing season, so you should start looking for a cuddle buddy. They are good for movie outings and bowling nights. But they are also good for relaxing indoors and watching a Scandal marathon. You could also partake in wintertime activities such as skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing. Those activities are fun and generally inexpensive. Implementing a workout routine could also help you to focus your time and attention on things other than being depressed about the cold weather. The good news is soon the summertime will be here and we can strip off all of these extra layers!
XOXO
Scarlet
